Nov. 2023 Brewsletter: 1.3 Million Oregonians... and beer drinkers?

GREAT BEER STARTS WITH CLEAN WATER!

Last week, Oregon Wild released a comprehensive report analyzing the significant positive impact the River Democracy Act would have on drinking water sources for communities across Oregon. This report highlights the potential role the River Democracy Act could play in safeguarding Oregon's pristine rivers and watersheds, which are vital to the well-being of its residents and the state's economy.

We ran the numbers, and over 1.3 million Oregonians in communities all across the state stand to have their drinking water better protected with the passage of the River Democracy Act. Read the report here and take action to protect drinking water sources for over a million people in Bend, Eugene, Medford, Clackamas County, and beyond!

“At Falling Sky, we believe in the importance of protecting our local rivers and tributary streams. Access to consistent and safe drinking waters is vital for our communities, and it also helps create better-quality beer. Water is a resource worth protecting, not only for today but our future too!” - Stephen Such, owner Falling Sky Brewing in Eugene

HELP US PROTECT OREGON'S RIVERS, CLEAN WATER, & CLIMATE FORESTS WITH A YEAR-END DONATION TODAY

All of Oregon Wild's work to protect our climate-defending old-growth forests, the rivers that provide clean drinking water (and beer!), and native wildlife species is made possible with the support of Oregonians statewide and partners like you!

The financial support from Oregon Brewshed® Alliance partners truly makes our work possible. So as we near year-end, please consider a special donation to help fuel the work of Oregon Wild and the Oregon Brewshed® Alliance in 2024 and beyond! Thanks so much for all you do!

BREWSHED® PARTNERS OF THE MONTH!

Worthy Brewing has been a member of the Oregon Brewshed Alliance since 2016 and has always been a strong voice for conservation in our state. They are a voice for water conservation and other sustainable practices in the brewing industry, and have been vocal supporters of the River Democracy Act to protect more Wild & Scenic Rivers in Oregon.

BREWSHED® BREWS IN THE WILD!

Oregon Brewshed® Alliance partner Grand Fir Brewing in Portland is celebrating their one-year anniversary this weekend! So head over to Grand Fir for SLUG FEST and cheers to the first of many great years!

The team at Grand Fir loves old-growth forests so much, it's literally spelled out on their walls! Their Lichen IPA is one of several beers paying homage to the complexity of our forests. At home in its natural habitat among a bunch of lichen at the Oregon Wild staff retreat along the North Santiam River earlier this year, this delicious IPA hit the spot perfectly and made us feel one with the forest!

LAST CALL FOR FLY-FISHING COLLABORATION!

Steve Such, owner of Falling Sky Brewing in Eugene, is spearheading a collaboration between Oregon Brewshed® Alliance partners to highlight and advocate for Oregon’s finest trout fisheries.

This collaboration will work closely with Oregon Wild on education, advocacy, and promotional materials in order to spread the word (which will involve lots of time spent drinking beer and casting lines on the rivers we are working to protect!).

Interested breweries can reach out to Steve at Falling Sky or Sami at Oregon Wild.
