But Call of the Wild is far from the only event we're hosting this season! When you're celebrating 50 years of protecting wildlands, wildlife, and waters all across Oregon, you celebrate, well....all across Oregon!

We're inviting our members, supporters, partners, and lovers of the wild in all corners of the state to join us to celebrate in communities around the state this fall. Our Brewshed® Alliance partners are a big part of our success, and we hope you can make it to an event near you!

We'd love to see you there!

BREWSHED® PARTNERS OF THE MONTH!

Founded in 2006, Ninkasi Brewing has always been at the forefront of Oregon's craft brewing industry and in supporting watershed protection and sustainability.

Ninkasi Brewing Company believes in and is committed to sharing experiences that create value for their customers, their partners, and their communities in service to their core purpose: to Perpetuate Better Living. Beer is a staple of civilization.

Over the past few years, Ninkasi has offered support for the River Democracy Act that would protect rivers and brewsheds across the state. This year, they generously donated beer for Oregon Wild’s 50th Anniversary Gala in Eugene, and are hosting another community celebration in their Better Living Room space in September.

Thanks for all you do, Ninkasi!

BREWSHED® BREWS IN THE WILD

Breakside Brewery has been a great Oregon Brewshed® Alliance partner for the past several years and makes some of the best dang beers around!

They've long supported our Call of the Wild event and have a special surprise in store for this year's event in October!

Their Bayside IPA made for the perfect treat on a recent hike to Siouxon Creek. Cheers!

THE BIG FIGHT TO PROTECT OUR ANCIENT FORESTS: TAKE ACTION!

Have you heard about the current opportunity to protect mature and old-growth forests nationwide?

We are hopeful the US Forest Service’s proposed Nationwide Old-Growth Amendment will finally put an end to prioritizing profit over protecting our oldest trees. The end of the public comment period for this proposal is just under a month away, and this represents our best chance to set strong safeguards for our ancient forests.

Today, Oregon retains less than 10% of the old-growth forests that used to blanket our state, with much of these forests lost to past logging. Old-growth forests provide clean air and water, fish and wildlife habitats, landscapes for recreation and play, cultural value to Indigenous communities, and capture the imaginations of Americans young and old. They are also an essential natural climate solution that stores vast amounts of carbon, and with their thicker protective bark and higher canopies, mature and old-growth trees are more resilient to wildfire. We must ensure these trees are protected and allowed to help us fight the climate and extinction crises.

Sign our petition to the US Forest Service demanding they establish meaningful protections for old-growth, and take significant steps towards establishing safeguards for our mature forests. If enough of us write in this summer, we can finally end the harmful practice of old-growth logging!
